Collar the dog event – North Malekula

Collar the Dog is the first dirt bike event of its kind in Vanuatu.
Circuiting Malekula’s northern ‘Dog’s Head’ discover the raw beauty of Malekula’s coastal wilderness and lush tropical bush. Enroute treat yourself to Malekula’s many attractions, including cultural tours, visiting ancient cannibal sites, sampling local cuisine and kava (‘muddy wota’), and snorkeling the island’s coral reefs. Event is fully supported with backup vehicles, accommodation, catering, and guides.

Nalawan Festival – South West Bay
South Malekula: dates to be confirmed

The Labo and Lawa Villages of stage the annual Nalawan Festival. A colourful ‘not to be missed’ event where the community at Firebeach and Lawa commemorate the first harvest of the crops. This year coupled with a yacht race! Come and be part of this festival now in its 7th year.

Maskelyne Canoe Race and Festival
Maskelynes, South Malekula : 28-29 July 2017

The communities of the Maskelynes Islands host an annual canoe race and cultural festival. 2-day program includes a feast of kastom dance, canoe-making, kava tasting, shared local meals, and of course the famous outrigger canoe race, finishing with an ‘Island Night’ celebration.

Lamap Art and Cultural Festival
Lamap, South Malekula : 11-12 August 2017

The local community of Lamap celebrates their culture, traditions and unique way of life with a two-day art and cultural festival. Typical programme includes an authentic pig exchange ceremony, skill displays, custom dancing and stories, as well as tasting the delicious organic island cuisine. In the evenings relax with local string bands, and kava tastings.

Nalint Big Nambas Cultural Arts Festival
Mae Village, north Malekula : 25 August 2017

The Nalint Big Nambas tribe annual cultural arts festival is a once in a life-time opportunity to witness this tribes cultural revival. Everyone in the village takes part – from pikinini (kids) to, the abu (elderly). Enjoy learning about the Big Nambas history, cultural performances, dancing, pig killing ceremonies, traditional food preparation, weaving, and much more…
